A Community Vision Begins
The Waukesha County Dental Coalition, founded by ProHealth Care School Outreach Nurse Hanneke Deeken, comes together to address growing oral health needs in the community and begins assessing how to expand access to care for underserved children and families.

Opening Our Doors in Waukesha
The Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic opens its first clinic in Waukesha, creating a new dental home for children and families who have long struggled to access care.

2013
Expanding Services & Prevention
As the organization grows, it expands preventive care, outreach, and partnerships that bring oral health education and services directly to children and families in the community.
2018
A Second Clinic Opens
In its 10th year, WCCDC opens its Menomonee Falls clinic, doubling its geographic footprint and expanding access to care across the region.



2020
Meeting the Moment
During the pandemic, Community Smiles Dental stays open to provide emergency care, then safely resumes regular treatment, ensuring children and families continue to receive essential dental services when access is especially limited.
2021
Becoming Community Smiles Dental
The organization formally rebrands as Community Smiles Dental, reflecting its growing reach, expanded services, and vision for the future. In the same year, it serves 4,418 unique patients, a 38% increase over 2020.

2022
A New Strategic Vision
With demand continuing to rise, Community Smiles Dental revisits its strategic plan with a focus on growth, expanded impact, and long-term sustainability. The organization serves 4,470 unique patients in 2022.

2023
15 Years of Impact
Community Smiles Dental celebrates 15 years of life-changing care while serving nearly 4,500 patients. With both clinics at capacity, the organization begins exploring future growth into the Greater Milwaukee region.
2024
A New Chapter of Leadership
Scott Marshall joins Community Smiles Dental as CEO, following Renee Ramirez’s retirement after 17 years of leadership. In 2024, CSD serves 4,412 patients from 14 counties, 87 cities, and 122 ZIP codes.

2025
A Record Year of Impact
In 2025, Community Smiles Dental cares for 4,861 unique patients, the highest in its history, with patients coming from 17 counties across the region.
2027
Expanding into Milwaukee
Community Smiles Dental plans to open its third clinic and first in the city of Milwaukee, expanding access to dental care for even more children and families across Southeast Wisconsin.
