About the Job:
The Donor Engagement Manager plays a key role in building and deepening relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, sponsors, and prospects to increase donor retention, sponsorship support, and long-term giving. This position is centered on thoughtful stewardship, donor cultivation, donor communications, corporate relationship-building, sponsorship engagement, and event-based donor experiences. The Donor Engagement Manager helps ensure supporters feel connected to the mission, understand the impact of their giving, and are inspired to continue and grow their support over time.
Mission Accountabilities:
1.) Upholds the mission, vision, and core values of Community Smiles Dental by consistently demonstrating inclusivity, professionalism, quality, compassion, and community in all aspects of the roles.
2.) Collaborate with CSD’s Leadership team to build a highly inclusive culture where team members can thrive and represent CSD’s core values to the best of their ability.
3.) Maintains strong and positive working and interpersonal relationships with all employed at Community Smiles Dental including interns, externs and volunteers.
4.)Understands and complies with all employment policies and procedures defined by Community Smiles Dental.
Major Accountabilities:
1.) Manages a portfolio of individual donors, corporate partners, sponsors, and prospects, working to build new connections, strengthen existing relationships, and increase donor retention, sponsorship support, and long-term giving.
2.) Develops and implements donor stewardship and cultivation strategies, including moves management, donor journeys, personalized outreach, recognition, follow-up, and engagement plans that move supporters toward deeper investment in CSD’s mission.
3.) Supports donor and corporate engagement through donor communications, sponsorship cultivation, and event-based experiences, including helping plan and execute CSD’s largest annual gala/fundraising event, donor visits, clinic tours, and other relationship-building opportunities.
General Responsibilities:
- Donor Stewardship & Cultivation
- Develop and implement thoughtful stewardship and cultivation strategies that deepen relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, sponsors, and prospects.
- Manage a portfolio of donors and prospective supporters, using moves management practices and donor journey strategies to guide personalized outreach, engagement, recognition, and follow-up.
- Corporate & Sponsorship Engagement
- Build and strengthen relationships with corporate partners through sponsorship opportunities, employee engagement, event participation, workplace giving, and mission-aligned partnerships.
- Support sponsorship cultivation, fulfillment, recognition, and renewal strategies connected to signature events and broader organizational priorities.
- Donor Communications & Storytelling
- Create compelling donor-facing communications that demonstrate impact and inspire continued support, including newsletters, stewardship reports, donor updates, appeal content, social media features, sponsorship materials, and personalized acknowledgments.
- Event-Based Engagement & Fundraising Events
- Plans and coordinates donor-centered events and engagement opportunities that support cultivation, stewardship, retention, and sponsorship growth. This includes donor visits, clinic tours, and other relationship-building opportunities.
- Supports the planning and execution of the organization’s largest annual gala/fundraising event, including sponsorship coordination, donor engagement, guest experience, event communications, follow-up, and stewardship activities connected to the event.
- Relationship Management, Systems & Reporting
- Use donor data and CRM tools to support relationship-building, track donor engagement, monitor stewardship activities, and prepare reports related to donor retention, sponsorship activity, portfolio progress, and fundraising goals.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of systems for tracking donor engagement, including moves management, donor journeys, touchpoints, follow-up actions, and stewardship milestones.
- Partners with the Development & Administrative Manager to ensure donor records and engagement history are accurate, consistent, and useful for cultivation and long-term relationship management.
- Donor Experience & Recognition
- Ensures donors and sponsors receive timely, meaningful, and mission-centered recognition.
- Helps create a consistent donor experience across thank-you processes, impact reporting, event follow-up, sponsor benefits, and ongoing communications.

Requirements/Education/
All Other Knowledge, Abilities, & Working Conditions
Minimum:
- Ability to understand, demonstrate and support the mission, vision and core values of Community Smiles Dental
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, development, communications, event fundraising, or related relationship-management experience.
- Prior experience in cultivating relationships and securing financial commitments from donors and corporate partners.
- Ability to work or use Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office for email, calendar, file creation, sharing and storage.
- Comfort using donor databases, CRM platforms, design tools, and related technology to support donor communications, engagement tracking, reporting, and relationship management.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in related, community-based or nonprofit fundraising and development.
- Proficient in Google Office Suite, DonorPerfect or comparable CRM system, Adobe, Canva, and Constant Contact is preferred.
- Ability to communicate professionally with a culturally diverse group of donors, team members and volunteers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and instruction.
- Ability to contribute to the priorities and needs of the team and mission.
- Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
- Ability to meet the work hours and schedules of the position, including some evening events as needed.
- Ability to work with a computer and frequently look at computer monitors throughout the day.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods throughout the clinic day.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or slide 10-20lbs at a time.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent moderate to high noise levels.
- Ability to work in close proximity with other team members, donors, and patients.
- Ability to effectively respond to varying situations using logical reasoning and decision making throughout the work day.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions to accomplish small motor skills.
